Langtang Himal is a mountain range sitting in the north of the Kathmandu Valley bordering Tibet. Langtang Trekking in Nepal offers the secluded and remarkable view of the Langtang Valley and the Langtang National Park.
The panoramic sites of the icy lakes at Gosainkunda and the Helambu Valley are certainly worth the trek uphill. Langtang Trekking gives a view of the mountain range comprising of peaks like Langtang Lirung, Langtang Ri, DorjeLakpa, Loenpo Gang, Changbu, Yala Peak, Morimoto, and more which range from 7000m to 5000m.
The Langtang trekking begins from the Kathmandu valley and leads to the Trishuli River passing Trishuli Bazaar and Dhunche. It eventually gives way to a Sherpa village, Syabrubensi which welcomes the Langtang National Park.
The Trek gives a picturesque view of the holy Gosaikunda lakes and the serene site of KyanjinGompa which is a Buddhist monastery. Pilgrims often make it to this region in August to visit the sacred Gosaikunda for prosperity and wellbeing. The KyanjinGompa offers a rare experience of tasting the sample of the local yak cheese.
The Cherkuri view point at the Langtang Trekking region provides a picture perfect spot with snowcapped mountain range on the backdrop and the prayer flags giving a sense of spiritualism and unanimity with the mountains. The Langtang trekking route continues to the isolated Nubamatang all the way up to the glaciers which welcome the Tibetan region.
The Langtang trekking finally ends with a crossing to the Llaurebena Pass and then the Helambu valley back again. Langtang trekking route not only gives a spectacular view of the high standing snow-capped mountain range from all the sides but also the cohabitation between the various ethnic groups living across the area.
Langtang area is largely inhibited by the Tamang people who have been residing in the area for centuries and depending largely on timber and firewood. The Langtang National Park in the Langtang region is the first Himalayan national park in Nepal which covers the area of 1,710 km2.
The Langtang National Park is home to numerous species of rhododendrons, oaks, maple, and more. Also the Himalayan Thar, rhesus monkey, red pandas are sme of the wildlife housed by the Langtang National Park.
The earthquake in April 2015 caused a colossal avalanche and swiped away the Langtang Village entirely. He avalanche blanketed the entire village and caused the death of 176 permanent residents, 80 foreigners and 10 army personals.
