  • Spring (March to May): Spring season brings warm weather and clear mountain views. Rhododendron forest blooms in red and pink colors.

How Difficult is the Annapurna Base Camp Short Trek?

This is probably the first question people ask before going on the Annapurna Base Camp Short Trek. People often think the word short means easy. But it is not exactly true. The Annapurna Base Camp Short Trek is considered a moderate trek.

On most days, you'll walk for around 6 to 8 hours. Some sections are gentle, while some are steep and full of stone steps. And trust me, there are quite a lot of steps. By the end of the day, your legs will definitely know you've been trekking.

The other challenge of the trek is the altitude. Annapurna Base Camp sits at 4,130 meters (13,550 feet) above sea level. As you climb higher, the air gets thinner, and you may feel tired more quickly than usual.

The trek will make you sweat a little. Your legs might complain on the uphill sections. But every climb comes with a reward of a mountain view, quiet forest, and a warm cup of tea at the teahouse.

And when you finally reach Annapurna Base Camp, the difficult parts somehow don't seem that difficult anymore. This is the magic of this trek. It challenges you just enough to make the finish feel special.

This trek is for people who want to make the most of their holiday. Some people only have a week in Nepal. Others want to combine trekking with a safari or a city tour. That's where this short itinerary fits perfectly. It gives you the same reward the regular 7-day itinerary gives.

  • Perfect if you have limited time in Nepal.
  • Covers the same highlights of the trek in just a fewer days.
  • Short ABC requires longer walking hours each day.
  • Best for active travelers and fit beginners.
  • Starts and ends conveniently from Pokhara.

The  7-Day Annapurna Base Camp Trek

The regular itinerary gives you a bit more breathing space. You get extra time to sit at a teahouse, chat with locals, and enjoy the mountain scenery without checking your watch.

  • You’ll have shorter walking hours each day.
  • More time to rest and enjoy the villages.
  • Better for families and slower walkers.
  • It gives you a more relaxed trekking experience.

So, if you have limited time, choose the 5-day  Annapurna Base Camp Short Trek and choose the 7-Day Annapurna Base Camp Trek if you prefer a slower pace. Either way, the mountains are waiting
