After reaching Everest Base Camp and enjoying sunrise from Kala Patthar, you won't need to spend days on the route. Instead, you'll board a helicopter and fly back over glaciers, valleys, icefalls, and remote mountain settlements.

Whether you're short on time, celebrating a special occasion, traveling with family, or simply looking for the most comfortable Everest trekking package Nepal has to offer, this Everest Base Camp helicopter trek delivers an experience that feels exclusive from start to finish.

Why is Everest Base Camp Deluxe Different Than Regular EBC Trek?

After trekking in the Everest region, we can confidently say that the biggest difference between a regular Everest Base Camp trek and the Everest Base Camp Deluxe Trek lies in the level of comfort, convenience, and overall experience.

On a standard EBC trek, you'll usually stay in basic teahouses and spend extra days walking back down the same trail after reaching Everest Base Camp. It's an incredible adventure, but it can be physically demanding.

The Everest Base Camp Deluxe Trek changes that experience completely. Instead of crowded flights and long return hikes, you enjoy a scenic helicopter flight and return from the Everest region to Kathmandu by helicopter.

The accommodations are carefully selected for comfort, offering some of the best luxury lodges available along the route. After a day of trekking, a warm room, comfortable bed, and quality meals feels like a luxury you truly appreciate.

What you’ll love the most is that this luxury Everest Base Camp trek still gives you the same iconic highlights of Namche Bazaar, Tengboche Monastery, Everest Base Camp, and Kala Patthar, but with added comfort, personalized service, and less travel stress.

If you're looking for a premium Everest trekking experience that combines adventure with comfort, this Everest Base Camp trek with helicopter return is simply a different level from the regular EBC trek.

Everest Base Camp Deluxe Trek - 9 Days Itinerary

Trip PlanExpand all

First, we will take an exhilarating helicopter ride to Lukla (2810m). For around half an hour, you will enjoy the scenery of hills, rivers, and mountains. You will see your porter for the first time after arrival at Lukla airport, where you will have a tasty breakfast. The journey begins with a walk of 3 hours from Phakding to the Dudh Kosi Valley, which is at 2620m altitude.

We will walk from the airstrip to Chiplun (2700m) and cross the beautiful Thado Koshi River via the locally made suspension bridge. After the bridge, we observe the tremendous Kusam-Kang-Gru (6367m), one of the toughest mountains to climb. The following part of the trip will be the Ghat village (2590m), where we will pass the ridge full of Mani stones and colorful prayer flags. Next, we will arrive in the beautiful tribal village of Phakding, where you will spend the night at the lovely Phakding Lodge.

Along the way, we will cross through villages like Zamphute and Tok Tok, where Thamserku Peak welcomes us with wide arms. Continuing the trek, we will pass through lovely Sherpa villages like Benkar, Chumoa, and Monjo and finally arrive at Utche Choling monastery, located high above the Dudh Koshi River. We will walk through the trails carved between the bluffs to arrive at the entry point of the UNESCO-recognized world heritage place, Sagarmatha National Park.

After having completed half of the journey to Namche Bazaar, we get ready for the far more challenging climb ahead. We meet the last village of Jorsale and then climb a steep, high path to a sight-stunning high bridge suspended over the Dudh Koshi River gorge. At this point, the Dudh Koshi River meets its tributary with the BhoteKoshi River. Tonight, we will stay at a remote lodge.

A short trail but quite steep takes us to the Hotel Everest View which is known worldwide. Placed on the top of a very high hill, it features the best sunset and sunrise views of the Himalayas. Right in front of you is a beautiful Ama Dablam peak and Mount Everest can be seen beyond, rising high above the clouds.

Built in the 1970s, the Everest View Hotel entered the Guinness World Records book as the highest hotel on earth. Since its establishment, it has been the major lodging choice of trekkers in the Solu-Khumbu region, allowing acclimatization in a serene setting surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. After the hike back to hotel and rest .

On day 4 of the Everest Base Camp hike, we are heading towards Tengboche, a pretty Buddhist village nestled at 12,660 feet. It usually takes a walk of 5-6 hours from Namche Bazaar to get to the destination and the scenery along the way, by the water bank of the Bhote Koshi River with lush green. It is a trail that takes us from the bank of Namche Bazaar and goes along the road, reaching the Phunki Tenga village.

This path, however, more quickly ensues in the breathtaking scenery of Mount Everest, Ama Dablam, and Lhotse and of the far distant forests and wide valleys. In the next few hours, let's hike to a location around Tengboche and from Phunki Tenga. Situated on a hill overlooking the monastery is the Tengboche Monastery, a spiritual center where Buddhist individuals seek inspiration for their lives. The one constructed in 1916 by the lama Gulu has the biggest and the most visited monasteries in the Everest region. On the 4th day, our walk from Namche to Tengboche puts in a blender all the amazing scenery and culture of the Everest region, and then we get a pleasant combination of natural beauty and culture after a few whirls.

A walk from Tengboche to Dingboche generally takes 5 to 6 hours. This is usually a stroll up and down rugged paths framed with amazing natural scenery. The first day of our trip to Tengboche, with breakfast in the Imja valley, will impress us with the brightness of the view and take us into the heart of the valley of peace. Finally, we reach Deboche, and the haze of the holy place embraces the old monastery. In addition to the Deboche Monastery, one of the Himalayas' oldest Tibetan Buddhist temples, the spiritual atmosphere of this area can be explored. Deboche is just about 1,5 hours walking ahead.

Acclimatization is our focus on Dingboche today; for this, we are taking the opportunity to absorb the beauty of the north face of Ama Dablam and the Lhotse-Nuptse ridge. This will be a leisurely walk through this scenic valley which will gradually and steadily take us to Island Peak. This relatively short hike still offers enough time to relax in the afternoon with other excursions to other sites for acclimatization.

We begin our trek by slowly walking up the Chorten trail, which takes about 1.5 hours. We then come to Thugla at 4600 m, pausing for lunch at a tea house before the steep part of our journey, which will take another 1.5 hours. Ceremoniously, the giant Mt. Pumori and Mt. Nuptse seem to get closer as we get to Lobuche, where the only food and accommodation are primitive.

During the hike, we cross a wide valley that is home to the Trekkers Aid Post in Pheriche. The clinic is run by a dedicated volunteer doctor from the west, who is a member of The Himalayan Rescue Association and is there to help all other trekkers. Then, we leave the valley to get down to the yak pastures of Lobuche, where we sleep in the lodge at night.

Prepare for a tough hike lasting 6-8 hours, where altitude will become more obvious. Preparation is essential as we trek approximately 15 km along the rocky path by the Khumbu Glacier.

Next, we will head towards Everest Base Camp (EBC), where you can immerse yourself in the atmosphere and capture the moments of your lifetime. If our journey falls during March and May, we could see commercial expeditions fighting for the summit. After lunch, we'll go down to Gorak Shep, where we'll stay in a nearby guest house for the night.

As soon as the sun rises, we trek to the Kala Patthar mountain top (5645m) to enjoy a breathtaking sunrise. From here we can see the grand Mount Everest and a range of other beautiful peaks, such as Pumori, Lingtren, Khumbetse, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and so on, all in a stunning panorama.

Finally, we get out of the awesomeness of these views and descend again to Gorak Shep for our flight to Kathmandu. You can relax for a few days in Kathmandu or explore to southern part of Nepal for an animal safari or the next tourist city like Pokhara as your wish.

Difficulty Level of Everest Base Camp Trek Deluxe

Many travelers assume that the Everest Base Camp Deluxe Trek is only for experienced trekkers. That's not entirely true.

After completing this route, we’d describe it as a moderate to challenging trek. The trail doesn't require technical climbing skills, but the high altitude, long walking days, and mountain terrain can test your endurance.

What Makes The Everest Base Camp Trek Challenging?

  • Trekking at high altitudes above 5,000 meters.
  • Walking 5-7 hours daily on mountain trails.
  • Steep uphill and downhill sections on some days.
  • Cold temperatures, especially during mornings and nights.
  • Reduced oxygen levels as you gain elevation.
  • Reaching Kala Patthar (5,555m), the highest point of the trek.

What Makes the Deluxe EBC Trek Easier Than a Regular EBC Trek?

One thing you’ll notice immediately is how much more comfortable this journey feels compared to the standard Everest Base Camp trek.

  • Helicopter flight to Lukla avoids crowded mountain flights.
  • Helicopter return from Gorakshep saves days of walking.
  • Luxury lodges provide better comfort and rest.
  • Professional guides monitor your pace and wellbeing.
  • Carefully planned acclimatization days help your body adjust naturally.
  • Premium services reduce physical and mental stress during the trek.

The hardest part is the trail. It is the altitude. Above Dingboche, even gentle climbs can leave you breathing a little heavier than usual. But with proper acclimatization, a steady pace, and enough water, the journey becomes much more manageable.

And honestly, every step feels worth it when Everest finally appears in front of you.

Best Times to do the Everest Base Camp Deluxe Trek

One of the things people often ask is, "When is the best time to do the Everest Base Camp Deluxe Trek?"

The answer depends on what kind of experience you're looking for. But if you want the best mountain views, comfortable temperatures, and ideal trekking conditions, Spring and Autumn are the best seasons for a luxury Everest Base Camp trek.

  • Spring (March to May): This is the most popular season. If we had to choose just one season, Spring would be near the top of our list. During these months, the weather is generally stable, the skies are clear, and the trails come alive with blooming rhododendron forests. The mountains look incredibly sharp against the blue sky, making it one of the best times for photography.
  • Autumn (September to November): You can see the clearest mountain views during this season. Many experienced trekkers consider Autumn the best season for the Everest Base Camp trek with helicopter return. The weather is stable, rainfall is minimal, and trekking conditions are almost perfect.
  • Off-season (Winter and Monsoon): In winter, the trails are much quieter, and you can enjoy a more peaceful Everest region. However, temperatures can drop well below freezing, especially at higher elevations. While Monsoon brings rain, clouds, and occasional flight delays. Mountain views are often hidden, and trails can become muddy and slippery.

No matter when you choose to go, standing beneath Mount Everest is always special. But if you want the very best conditions, plan your Everest Base Camp Deluxe Trek between March-May or September-November.

Everest Base Camp Deluxe Trek Major Attractions Places

  • Everest Base Camp (5,364m): Let's be honest, this is the place everyone comes for. After days of trekking through the Khumbu region, reaching Everest Base Camp feels unreal. Prayer flags flutter in the cold mountain wind, glaciers stretch into the distance, and the Khumbu Icefall rises before you. For many trekkers, this is a once-in-a-lifetime achievement.
  • Kala Patthar (5,555m): Kala Patthar is the reward of the EBC trekking journey. You’ll reach here before sunrise and watch the first golden sunrise of the day. From here, you can see Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, and countless Himalayan peaks stretching across the horizon.
  • Tengboche Monastery: It is called the Spiritual Heart of the Khumbu. Tengboche Monastery is one of the most peaceful places on the trek. The sound of monks chanting, colorful prayer flags dancing in the wind, and the backdrop of Ama Dablam create a scene that feels almost unreal.
  • Hotel Everest View: This is a famous viewpoint that offers one of the best panoramas of Mount Everest. Sitting here with a warm cup of coffee while Everest stands proudly in the distance is a simple experience, but one you'll never forget.
  • Sherpa Villages and Culture: Throughout the Everest Base Camp Deluxe Trek, you'll pass through traditional Sherpa villages where hospitality comes naturally. Sharing stories with locals, visiting ancient monasteries, and learning about mountain life adds a deeper meaning to the adventure.
