The way of this trek directs you straight to the Glaciers, rhododendrons, oak forest and waterfall. Apart from these, you can watch the endangered animals such as Red Pandas and Snow Leopard, these animals only occur in this place.

The route will be worth all the labor at the end of the day when trekkers will move up to the Annapurna base camp and see the Himalayas in detail. For people who would like to take an excellent and short 5-day Annapurna base camp trek into the foothills of the Himalayas but still desire to spend time away, our package deal is suitable for their holidaying needs. Machapuchare (fishtail) (6997m), Gangapurna (7455m) and many more that you will be able to view all from the base Camp.

The adventure of Annapurna Base Camp Trek starts with a short 30-minute’ flight that leaves Kathmandu early in the morning such that from the plane itself, one can enjoy the beautiful mountain views. The actual trekking starts after landing in Pokhara, then drives to Siwai after a day’s walk and moves forward trekking to Chhomrong. The second day will take you from Chhomrong through to the Himalayas during a less complicated walk, spanning around 6-7 hours.

Its trails present an incredible offer to view the magnificence of the Himalayas with alternating rough and well-paved sections. Some novices may have to use more than seven hours, though the more seasoned trekkers can reach it faster. However, the third day thus represents a more significant trial as Annapurna Base Camp comes into the picture. First, one walks towards Machhapuchhre Base Camp and, later in the day, proceeds to Annapurna Base Camp, reaching 4,130 meters above sea level.

The walk from the Himalayas to ABC is longer and tougher due to the increasing altitude. On the fourth day, you'll begin your descent from Annapurna Base Camp to Sinuwa, enjoying one of the most charming downhill treks. Along the way, you'll be treated to alluring hills, glimpses of mountains, and rivers, making for a picturesque journey.

During this time, you can see many attractive hills and mountains from afar with rivers flowing down, which gives the landscape a very panoramic view.

Ultimately, you will spend a short time walking from Sinuwa to Siwai during your last day on this trip, then drive back to Pokhara to complete the trek at Annapurna Base Camp.

Why is Short Annapurna Base Camp Trek Better Than Traditional Long ABC Trek?

Contrary to the longer version of the Annapurna Base Camp trek (ABC), the short one possesses quite a few pros, hence attracting more people, especially those who have a very little period to stay or even those with a feel for not-too-tiresome trips. As for the short ABC, we talk about time when making a comparison between the two. You will spend six days getting from your starting point to the base camp then back to Kathmandu and this is far much better in saving your traveling time than trekking for so many days which the long one entails.

Moreover, fewer days on the trails, during which you are likely to walk at a leisurely pace for better acclimatization, thus making it possible to enjoy the scenic beauty of the Himalayas without time pressure, are the highlights of the shorter trek. That is why the Short ABC Trek is primarily recommended for novices in hiking and/or individuals who doubt whether they could endure a long trek. It will still be enjoyable to experience the triumph of ascending a mountainous pass while going through varied terrains.

The shortened duration is the best option for tourists with very tight schedules who want to enjoy all the beauty found in the Annapurna region without wasting their time traveling. Also, the shorter hike is good for those who are afraid of their health status or altitude adaptation capabilities.

Also, requiring less thorough preparation and gear, the shorter distance minimizes the number of things one will need for this trek. Hence, it becomes a more appealing option to all trekkers irrespective of their experience, including those who might be doing high-altitude treks for the first time. Other than that, within a shorter time frame, one can experience an unforgettable trek while viewing the Annapurna massif, which, up close, are Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machapuchare.

Are The Views on Short Annapurna Base Camp Similar to Long ABC Trek Route?

The short Annapurna Base Camp trek presents views similar to those of the long ABC trek route because, at first, you will be following the same path. The most enticing sights en route from Kathmandu to Pokhara are Nepal’s hilly regions, and these mountains are where you will have your eyes set the moment you start trekking the short trek at Annapurna Base Camp. With flight, you will catch a glimpse of the green beauty of Nepal and distant mountains.

Walking in the Annapurna mountain range area has exceedingly attractive mountain views like Mt. Annapurna, which is 8091 meters high; Mt Dhaulagiri, which is 8167 meters high; Annapurna South, which is 7219 meters high; Mt. Tharpu Chuli which is 5695 meters high, Mt. Hiunchuli which is 6441 meters high, Mt. Gangapurna which is 7454 meters high, Mt Annapurna III which is 7555 meters high, and Mt Machhapuchhre which is 6997 meters high. As you traverse the wonderful places of Chhomrong, Sinuwa, and Siwai, you will enjoy amazing scenes and verdant natural vegetation. The Modi River, Seti River, and many others will also come into view as you traverse the paths.

The Short ABC Trek is worth considering by individuals with tight schedules. It follows identical paths as its long version up to some point. Thus, travelers are guaranteed to experience the same awesome views of the Annapurna range and the surrounding environment.

The first day of the six-day Annapurna Base Camp Trek starts with a flight to Nepal. You will fly from your home country to Kathmandu, the capital of the mountainous country. Upon arriving at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, our agents will help you with your logistical management and navigation.

You will then be escorted to your respective hotels with the help of our staff, where you will be staying overnight. The Kathmandu hotels offer high-end amenities from personal bedrooms with attached bathrooms, 24/7 electricity and internet services, hot showers, and other services. You will also visit our office for brief information about the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. Following the meet and greet program, you will participate in our welcome dinner in the evening before commencing towards your hotel for a sleep.

The second day of the Annapurna Base Camp Trek starts with a warm breakfast in the hotel. We will then continue our journey to Pokhara, the second-largest city in Nepal. We can choose from several options: road transportation and flight to Pokhara. But we provide flight services to our guests to get to the bustling city easily and quickly.

We will head towards Tribhuvan International Airport and complete some formalities before boarding a plane. The flight to Pokhara from Kathmandu takes around 20 minutes to reach. During the flight, we will pass above the beautiful and traditional villages of Dhading and Tanahun District and enjoy the snow-capped views of the Himalayas from the air.

The terraced fields alongside rivers like Trishuli and Marshyangdi are some of the major attractions of the plane.

We will land at Pokhara Airport after 20 minutes of flight and rest for lunch. Pokhara is a tourism hub and it is home to beautiful destinations such as Davis Falls, Mahendra and Chamero Gufa, Sarangkot Hill, Begnas and Phewa Lake, International Mountain Museum, and many more.

Since our mission is to reach Chhomrong today, we will not rest at Pokhara. Instead, we will drive to Siwai, head through the rugged trails, and start our hike.

We will set forth our journey with Nayapul and Syauli Bazaar as the first two destinations. The real adventure commences at Kimche, and the highs last until we reach the summit town of Ghandruk, where we may see panoramic views of formidable mountains, terrace farms, and tropical subtropical forests.

Ghandruk village illustrates Buddhism in the Himalayas, with many monasteries following this unique culture. The trip plan involves visiting the Gurung Museum, where we will learn about local lifestyles and customs from an insider's perspective. From Ghadruk, we will be delighted with stunning views of mountains considered icons, such as Fishtail, Annapurna South, and Hunchuli.

Further on our path from Ghandruk, we handle a demanding descent to the Kimron River before another ascent takes us to where we can finally reach Chomrong. This is where the first glimpse of the Annapurna South and the fabled Mount Fishtail will awaken the glimpse of heaven in them Chomrong resides down the slope of a wooded hillside, welcoming visitors to the Annapurna range.

After waking up early in Chhomrong, we will start our day with breakfast and enjoy the clean views of the surroundings. Our mission is to reach the Himalayas by the evening and hike through Sinuwa. The path is rugged and remote and almost covered by the forest area. However, these major aspects will make our hike more enjoyable.

We will follow an uphill trail on a stone path through the rhododendron forest and head towards Chomrong Khola. After a few hours, we will finally reach there, where we can rest for snacks or lunch. The path stretches through deep bamboo and rhododendron forests, ultimately meeting Himalaya, where we will stay overnight for today.

The hike will continue for 4 to 5 hours through the remote trail, so ensure you have packed essential gear. If you are traveling in winter, remember to pack warm clothing and camping gear.

Prepare for an unforgettable journey in the Annapurna Base Camp Trek, where we will have more thrills and excitement. The fourth day will be the day we will conquer the heights, climbing up to the height of 4,130 meters (13,546 feet) which is the altitude of Annapurna Base Camp, the camp we will pass through Machhapuchhre Base Camp which is the above-mentioned from 3,700 meters.

Having enjoyed our stay at the Himalayan Hotel, we will now be ready for the last stretch of the trek towards Annapurna Base Camp. We will hereby pack our belongings and prepare ourselves for the task. We will move into the green jungle teeming with a thousand facets of life and then to Machhapuchhre Base Camp, where we will be rewarded with grazing land.

Now, our trekking path leads into the valley of glaciers. From there, we will cross the glacier beds slowly and safely and reach Annapurna Base Camp. We will walk there cautiously, especially in winter when avalanches are always dangerous. Starting the trek, we will plunge into a host of sightseeing activities. We will be surrounded by the marvel of the Annapurna peak from all around, filling our senses with a 360-degree vision. We will see the amazing views of Annapurna and its neighboring peaks, which consist of Dhaulagiri, Himchuli, and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail).

The captivating environment created in the camp is exactly what we need to get close to nature and fully enjoy its beauty. Having said that, we will seize every opportunity to snap great pictures.

The walk passes the beautiful Annapurna Sanctuary, which brings an assortment of natural beauties. Traversing the path, we are constantly immersed in the beautiful sights and sounds that make us feel alive and alert. Along the way, the terraced fields spread like a sea of bright quilts made by caring local people who dedicate their efforts to cultivation. Massive mountain ridges, namely the formidable Annapurna and Dhaulagiri pinnacles, remain as eternal guards, with snowy peaks almost touching the sky. Every step ahead also reveals a fresh view, evidence of the spellbinding splendour of the Himalayas.

The Modi River valley takes us again on an unforgettable journey. The scenery is breathtaking. Green forests of rhododendrons and bamboo surrounding the area provide cover for the thick wildlife with a wide net. Nature envelops us with the fragrance of springtime flowers and bird songs, which accompany our path and act as harmonious background music for our journey.

Upon our arrival at the Bamboo village, we are welcomed so heartily by the locals and in awe of the beauty and tranquility of its surroundings. Here in the quietude of the countryside, we learn to draw solace and comfort from each other as we share experiences that will stay with us forever once our journey ends.

We have to start our journey from where Chomrong village is; it is on the way to Jhinu Danda, a peaceful little settlement. This is the very spot where the riverside hot springs can be found, and we can let the tension of our bodies go away here.

Leaving Jhinu Danda behind, we would go along the path along the Mardi Khola River. We will continue our walk for 3 or 4 hours and then reach Siwa/Ghandruk Phedi, the final destination. Our journey further covers Birethanti and Nayapul, after which our trek ends with us returning to Pokhara. Hopefully, by this point, you will recall the moments you have spent reaching Annapurna Base Camp as precious.

Ealry in the morning at 7am Bus we will take bus to Kathmandu, It will be aroud 8-9 Hours .

Things To Do/Place To Visit In Pokhara

Mountain Sightseeing

From Pokhara, one can engage in sightseeing activities that include the scenery of snow-capped peaks from the Annapurna Ranges, like Mt. Fishtail, Lamjung Ranges, and Dhaulagiri. Certainly, the most adorable of all Pokhara's attractions is the breathtaking view of Annapurna I to IV Annapurna South and other ranges. Despite Mount Annapurna I (8,091m) being the highest in the region, the Machhapuchhre rules over all others in terms of popularity.

Natural Lakes

Fewa, also known as Phewa, is the second largest lake in Nepal, measuring about 2km by 5km, and is the prime attraction of Pokhara. It is the biggest and the most bewitching one among the three lakes, and it makes the surroundings of Pokhara sparkle so much. Here, visitors can do sailing or rowing on a rented boat or visit the central island with a temple. Amongst the eastern shore, which is still popularly called Lakeside or Baidam, most hotels, restaurants, and handicraft shops are the favorite home base for tourists.

Rupa and Begnas lakes are situated not far away from Pokhara at the head of a road that bends off from the road to Kathmandu after about 15 km. Since they were the lakes away from the main trail and were the only ones around the valley not properly connected by any of the three lakes, they were the ideal natural retreat. Inevitably, these parts present an excellent choice for boating and fishing.

Other Major Attractions

Barahi Temple is the city's most significant religious monument from a historical point of view. Sited approximately in the Phewa Lake, this two-storied stupa is in remembrance of the boar incarnation of Ajima, the goddess capable of invoking the power of female energy. People can be found, especially on Saturdays, offering animals and fowls for a sacrifice to the deity, however, some of them are being carried on people’s shoulders across the lake.

Davis Fall locally called Patale Chango, or Devis Fall, situated two kilometers southwest of Pokhara airport on the highway to Tansen, is an incredible waterfall. This follows the story of a hiker named Dave (Deven), who is believed to have drowned after being washed away by the Pardi Khola and subsequently disappeared underground through a passage under the waterfall. Contrary to the first poem, Gupteshwor was the opposite of the fall, described by Davis.

And among those, Mahendra Gupha is another must-visit for nature lovers in Pokhara. It is this big cave made of limestone with a nickname name the House of Bats being applied locally. A two-hour walk to the north of Pokhara, bring a torch with you as the stalagmites and stalactites are very low-lit, and some of the winged natives as well.

The Sarangkot viewpoint is on a sideways slope of the ridge at an altitude of 1600 meters with 180 degrees of Himalayan Range views. Saranko might be a small but beautiful obscure place for a dawn and dusky view. The outfit for the Paragliding trip starts from Sarangkot, and the rider rides with the wind to see the beautiful Pokhara and the majestic mountain views. But, after all, Sarangkot is famous for short treks for people who like to learn more about nature.

When To Do Annapurna Base Camp Trek?

The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is one of the most exciting trekking journeys throughout the year, but among trekkers, it is the most popular one from March to May and September to November. These periods are considered the best time slots for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek tour, combining the most pleasant weather and the best trekking conditions.

The main season for Annapurna Base Camp Trek is Spring (March-May), which captivates the hearts of trekkers with its colorful variety of shades identical to the traditional Himalayan areas. These months draw the curtains to show off vibrant meadows and lakes covered in snow and sparkling rainbows. When the snow turns to slush by late April or early May, the trail becomes more pleasant and relatively safe for those who are well-acquainted with the ice conditions. The thermometer often reads around 20°C, rarely exceeding and not going below zero.

The autumn (September-November) also emerges as a trekking season with clear skies and stable weather conditions. It lies beyond the monsoon period, thus significantly reducing the probability of experiencing rain and snowfall. Mornings are very early, with cold nights, and it is optimal for hiking on the beautiful scenic course. However, the fact that no snow can be seen during the fall and winter months tends to decrease the beauty of the surrounding landscapes.

Weather and seasons are crucial to the success rate of trekkers at the Annapurna Base Camp trek. From October to December, the trek is known to have a sixty percent success rate, mainly due to the mild temperature and favorable conditions. Unlikewise, the precipitation drops to less than 40% between January and May due to the frequent rain, snowfall, and wintry weather, making it a hard time for mountaineers.

Planting in June and July, during the pre-monsoon period, has a success rate of 70% which is further enhanced by flourishing vegetation and pleasant weather. Along the trails, the lush vegetation reflects a scenic view for hikers; though, the nights are also freezing. In August and September, when the ice melts, 80% of the success rate soars, thanks to the presence of accessible trails. Even when the daytime temperature is high, the night temperatures that are cooler at higher altitudes offer a retreat from the heat for the trekkers.

Many elements, such as the weather and the composition of the seasons, significantly impact the approach to the Annapurna Base Camp trek.

Difficulty Level of Annapurna Base Camp Trek

The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a moderately difficult trip. It is tailored for experienced hikers who have been up country mountains over 13,000 feet. I have acquired a lot of trekking experience and developed my skills, especially moving up towards the Annapurna Base Camp via Machhapuchhre Base Camp.

The trek covers six days on flat or sloping places above 4,000 m, which is a moderately difficult task. The fact that the destination is right in the lap of the Annapurna Mountain Range only adds to the problems presented by the cold weather. The Annapurna Base Camp trekking route requires more experience in the Nepalese landscape than just beginners.

On this trek, starting from Pokhara and ending at the Annapurna Base Camp, you will encounter slightly difficult terrain. Along the way, hikers face numerous obstacles, such as long descents and steep ascents on the rocky path, but they also pass high alpine pastures, remote settlements, and off-the-beaten paths.

Further, the trip comprises traversing moraines, glaciers, and blowing winds on the high passes. Physical strength is vital for the daily walking of 4-5 kilometers on the remote trails. Altitudes higher than 3000 meters hold high chances of altitude sickness. Hence, past hiking experience, common sense, and general safety tips will be useful in the Annapurna Base Camp Trek.

Accommodations On Short Annapurna Base Camp Trek 6 Days

Along the route there are several tea houses, where overnight accommodation is accessible. In order to ensure quality lodging for our clients, we have designed a package that includes a 6-day trek to Annapurna Base Camp. Usually, two trekkers share clean and convenient accommodation.

Tea houses are converted mountain lodges or big houses for families. These are expanded versions to entertain more people. From these small huts trekkers originally get food and tea during treks. Most tea-houses provide rooms for two people and it’s up to your choice if you want a room with a toilet inside or not. One toilet facility is shared amongst the few rooms. Beds have mattresses and pillows on the bedrooms. Blankets too are available and they could keep you warm depending on where you are.

The tea houses situated at lower elevations are mostly concrete structures (many storied) with self-contained bedrooms amongst other facilities like western kind of water closets. However, as you move up these accommodations deteriorate gradually. In most of the tea houses there is usually a single chamber (room) of guest house type known as dormitory accommodation arrangement system where (in mountain climbing parlance) individuals live together like college students on this particular mountaineering expedition until they reach their peak destination or descend back down to lower altitudes. These large rooms serve as common areas for these lodges and can be perfect places for meeting other tourists from different parts of the world.

Meals Facility on Short Annapurna Base Camp Trek 6 Days

A menu of different foods and beverages can be savored in the tea houses on Annapurna Base Camp's common routes. Prepare for a breakfast choice consisting of chapati, bread or pancakes topped with tea, coffee or eggs. Dal bhat is typical, serving as an option for lunchtime or evening meals. It is usually made up of lentil soup (dal) combined with rice and accompanied by vegetable dishes such as curried mutton, chicken, etc.

Local and international menus for lunch and dinner can be found at the teahouses. You will encounter foreign foods like noodle soup, momos, traditional dishes like Dhido (porridge from grains like corn or millet), and Sukuti (dried meat). The food there can be simple but filling for trekkers and may include different regional cuisines. There are also snacks and various Tibetan or Nepali breads. Hot drinks are also served like masala tea, hot chocolate and instant coffee/milk tea.

Cold drinks range from bottled water and sodas to beer and rakhi (local alcoholic drinks). Alcoholic beverages are not advised due to elevation illness. Though few mountain streams suggest they are fit for drinking, purified water from the teahouses should be assimilated for safety or purified using a SteriPen or tablets. In most lodges, cold water is given freely, but a small amount is charged for warm drinking.  With hearty food and safe hydration, you'll be energized for each day's hike.

Altitude Sickness During Short Annapurna Base Camp Trek and Remedies

Reaching high altitudes, such as the Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130m, raises the possibility of altitude or acute mountain sickness (AMS). Such heights have less oxygen that gets to the body and affects everyone without consideration of age or physical fitness.

You will know that you have altitude sickness if you have a headache, feel tired all the time, feel as though you are going to puke anytime, feel weak all the time, cannot breathe well normally, and have no sleep. The sickness may be developed to HACE and HAPE, which can lead to death if not treated.

It's essential to avoid getting altitude sickness because it may endanger individuals' lives if they're not used to high heights. Specifically, first of all, to make the body acclimatize, it is necessary to ascend slowly. Drink enough water so one doesn't dehydrate or have hallucinations because of dehydration, and consume adequate food. Some solutions include taking Diamox medicine, which raises blood oxygen levels before or while on the trek for prevention. Rest enough and stop doing anything that could cause you to lose too much through strain.

The supply of extra oxygen can help alleviate the effects of altitude temporarily. For extreme cases, sometimes the only thing that works is going down to a lower elevation with more oxygen. Most trekkers can safely acclimatize by following the proper safety of their bodies and paying attention to their bodies. However, severe symptoms should not be overlooked; they can quickly develop into a medical emergency and trigger a rapid descent. Give priority to your safety than proceeding to a higher camp if you are suffering from AMS.
