Is Sleeping at Everest Base Camp Safe?

Yes, sleeping at Everest Base Camp is safe when it is done with the right preparation and guidance. This is a must-try adventure that many trekkers dream of, and it is natural to wonder about the safety.

The main concern is altitude sickness, since Everest Base Camp lies in 5,364 meters (17,598 ft). That is why our trek is designed with proper acclimatization days in Namche Bazaar and higher villages before reaching Base Camp. This slow ascent gives your body time to adjust to the thin air.

At  Everest Base Camp, you’ll stay in expedition tents, which is built for high-altitude comfort. With warm sleeping bags, cozy blankets, and professional guides, you’ll stay safe and comfortable. Oxygen cylinders and first-aid kits are always available in case of emergencies.

Thousands of tourists sleep here every year without problems. The key is to listen to your guide, stay hydrated, and avoid rushing. If you follow these instructions, your overnight trek to EBC will be safe and unforgettable.
