Ghorepani Poonhill trek is one of the most sought short treks, not only in the western region but entire Nepal. The trek gives us the glimpse of the beautiful western Himalayas as we continue our journey alongside the beautiful rivers, through forests and the friendly villages. Peaks like Annapurna I, II, Dhaulagiri and Macchapuchhre will welcome you on this trip with all their majestic view.
This 7-day trek is prepared to fully enjoy the beauty of nature. The sunrise from Poon Hill is worth the trip and the view of the majestic mountains makes it all meaningful. Through the Rhododendron forests and alpine meadows, we carry on our journey through the lushness of the trees, the cool breeze in the air and the ever-present serenity of nature.
Roam around two of the greatest city in the county- Kathmandu, and Pokhara. Witness the exquisite nightlife and culturally molded cities as you enjoy good food and good company along with the beautiful nature.
The trek is rated as easy and is viable for beginners. Even novice trekkers can fully enjoy the journey with the mild problem. But, the avid trekkers wouldn't be disappointed either with the beautiful nature to keep them company.
Our journey starts with the drive to Pokhara. We leave via a tourist bus and pass various small towns and villages along the way. The beautiful hills and rivers keep us company. A long ride and we reach Pokhara. Rest of the evening we have our days off and we can enjoy the beautiful Fewa Lake along with Pokhara style nightlife in a bar, with live music. Approximately 7 hours of drive. Breakfast included.
Early morning breakfast and we leave for Nayapul via a taxi. Reaching Nayapul, our trek begins. We walk uphill along a gravel road. There's a clear river stream running nearby. We also pass few local villages like Sudami on the way, The Himalayas peaks at us from a distance and taking a few snaps we continue upwards. Eventually, we reach Tikhedhunnga and we stay at a guest house. Approximately 1 hour of drive. Approximately 3-4 hours of walk. BLD included.
We enjoy our breakfast and ascent uphill. Climbing a long staircase we reach Ulleri(2,070m). Trekking through the Rhododendron forests and the river streams we climb further up. This is a rather challenging day of the trek as we have to ascend the steep path for hours. Crossing Nangethathi we carry on. Reaching Ghorepani and the view of the Himalayas is your rewards. The beautiful Annapurna range, Hiuchuli and Macchapuchhre is waiting for you. Approximately 6 hours of trek. BLD included.
Waking up at around 4 am, we start our hike to Poonhill. Climb uphill and reach Poonhill before sunrise. The view of the sunrise slowly looming out of the mountain like Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Manaslu (8,163m) is a work of the wonder and as the light reflects upon the mountain; you can stop but watch the moment and want to freeze it. The mountain range looks even more dazzling. Take some great pictures and we continue downhill to Ghorepani. We continue downhill to Tadapani. We cross through the beautiful Rhododendron forests and alongside the river to reach Tadapani. Approximately 7 hours of trek. BLD included.
The trail goes downward through the forests and rocky paths and leads to Gurung village of Ghandruk. This village is famous for its views of the Himalayas and the interesting blend of culture and tourism. We then explore this beautiful village and stay at the hotel for the night. Approximately 5-6 hours of walk. BLD included.
After breakfast, we trek down to Seulibazzar. Following the trail through the view of hills and mountains, we reach Birethati and finally Nayapul from where we started out trek. From here, we drive back to Pokhara and enjoy the rest of the evening in the beautiful city. Approximately 3-4 hours of walk. BLD included.
