About Jamacho Gumba
Jamacho Gumba is a quiet spiritual monastery located on a hilltop inside Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park. Protected by the Nepalese Army, the Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park is home to a wide range of flora and fauna. Most hikers walk the trail to enter the Jamacho monastery which is a pilgrimage to Buddhists. The Buddhist religion is beautifully displayed on the hilltop of Nagarjun.
Jamacho holds deep spiritual values. Inside the monastery, you’ll find statues of Buddhist gods and goddesses, along with a tiny statue of Nagarjun Buddha. It is not just a hiking destination, but also a pilgrimage site where spirituality and natural beauty meet. Many believe meditating here brings peace, clarity, and a sense of oneness with nature.
The Route of Jamacho Gumba Day Hike
The Janacho Hike begins from Nagarjun National Park entrance at Fulbari Gate. The Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park was opened in 2002. It has been protected by the government of Nepal and sits around the army territory. Once you’re inside the trail immediately leads you into a dense forest filled with tall pine, rhododendron, and oak trees. Along the way, you’ll walk through the rest points, prayer flags, and viewing spots that offer the stunning views of Kathmandu Valley below.

Once you reach the top, the monastery greets you with silence, fresh mountain air, and panoramic views. After spending some peaceful time, you descend the same trail back to Fulbari Gate, where your vehicle will be waiting.
